AHO is an autonomous institution within the Norwegian university system and one of the leading schools and research institutions in the field of architecture, urbanism, landscape and industrial design in the Nordic countries. The school has currently 650 students. About 90 new students is admitted each year.

The Oslo school of Architecture and Design is situated in central Oslo, along the Aker river, close to the popular area of Grünerløkka. Application

Each year 60 students are admitted to 1st year Master of Architecture and 30 students to 1st year Master of Industrial design.

For admission to 1st year, the criteria for admission are general academic competence and passing the entrance exams. Please note that certified Norwegian language skills are required.

The entrance examinations consist of a home assignment and a school assignment. The home assignment is available at www.aho.no from April 1st and has to be returned by the deadline in May.

From the home assignment, based on how it is performed, applicants are invited to sit a two-days examination at the school.

Norwegian language skills are required. The assignments will only be given in Norwegian, and all instruction the first 3 years of study will be in Norwegian.

In addition, the Oslo School of Architecture and Design can admit students who have completed at least 3 years at an equivalent academic institution in Norway or abroad.

Applications for higher level admittance must be submitted to the school on the special form within April 1st. The School's Assessment Committee will select and place the applicants at a particular stage of the programme of study on the basis of their portfolios and academic reports.

Students that are admitted will normally be able to start in AHOs 4th year of study.
